Franchising FAQ’s

How many PastaCup stores will there be?

Our plans are for 300+ stores around Australia. Then once we go international – the sky is the limit! Initially we are launching in WA where we plan to eventually have around 30 stores open.

What is your franchise purchase fee for a PastaCup store?

It costs $40,000 to purchase a PastaCup franchise. This includes your initial franchise fee, training, project management of your store set-up, and guidance before you open for business.

What other start-up costs are there as a franchisee?

Each location is unique, but as a guide the value of the store fit-out, equipment, signage, computer systems, premises security-bond, etc usually ranges between $220,000 - $320,000. Ask us about the finance options we have in place.

Am I going to make a bucket-load of money?

Our brand is great, our product is great, and we are very careful with selecting new store locations. So the question comes back to you – how much money do you want to make?

What training do I get?

Before you open, we’ll take you through our 3-week training program. It’s split between our head office in North Perth, and hands-on in our company-owned stores.

What support do I get?

We are very hands-on. From the day you open, we will be side-by-side with you and your team. It’s your business – and we are there to support you with our knowledge and experience.

Do I need to be specially-skilled to prepare Pasta?

Not at all! There is no special chef required. All Pasta preparation is done by you and your team. Everything is cooked-to-order on the spot. Fresh and fast. We teach you how to do it. You’ll be amazed how easy it is!

Who chooses the sites of new PastaCup stores?

We manage the site-selection, and lease negotiation. Naturally, you need to be happy with the site before you proceed.

Who manages the fit-out and construction of our new PastaCup Store?

We’ve now built a number of PastaCup stores, so you can leave this to us. We manage this entire process for you, account for all funds spent, then hand you the keys to your brand new store! There’s no extra charge for this – it’s all part of the initial franchise fee to purchase a PastaCup franchise.

Do I get assistance with employing my team, and training them?

Absolutely. We help you with your initial advertising for team members, and sit side-by-side with you during the interview process. Then once you get the hang of it, you can use or team-recruitment systems to bring on new people as required.

How many team-members will I have?

Our existing PastaCup stores are really busy. The sheer volume of sales is quite amazing and we need to have a lot of staff to keep our customer-service standards at a high level. Having said that, most of our team-members are casual employees. This means they only work when it’s busy, so we don’t waste money on paying people when it’s quiet. Most PastaCup stores have three or four full-time staff (including the owner-manager), and ten-twenty casual staff on the books.

Is the owner required to work in each PastaCup store?

Yes. We don’t want you there every minute of the day, but certainly most of the time, and especially when it’s busy. We know the most successful franchise businesses are those which are run by an actual owner. This will ensure you are actively managing your investment, so you are largely in control of your financial returns. PastaCup is not a passive investment, and neither are any of the best-known and most successful franchises in the world.

What about ongoing fees?

We provide you with on-going support – every single day. This is funded by all stores contributing 6% of sales as an ongoing service fee.

Also, a lot of the advertising and marketing is best done as a group, so all stores contribute 6% of sales to the national marketing fund, and we use this to continually grow the brand, and drive more customers into the PastaCup stores.

Can anyone buy a PastaCup franchise?

We pride ourselves on treating every franchise enquiry with respect. We will respond to you in a timely manner, and we’ll try and help you meet our selection criteria. But the reality is over the past few years we have invested an enormous amount of time, stress, joy, and money into creating this franchise opportunity for you. There will only be a limited number of PastaCup stores, so we want to give them to the people we feel will make them a great success.

Can I own a PastaCup store with a business partner?

Absolutely. In fact, your business partner can own up to 90% of the business, as long as the person that actually manages the day-to-day operations owns at least 10% and can prove they have contributed their own funds to this shareholding.

Can I own more than one PastaCup store?

This would be great, and it will depend on your success with your initial PastaCup store. We’d certainly like to be involved with as successful many multi-site owners as possible.

What is unique about the PastaCup franchise business?

That’s easy! We are the FIRST to offer Pasta in this concept, and our branding is fantastic. Just like Boost Juice, Subway, and Gloria Jeans Coffees – we are the first to offer a simple product, in a unique way.
